Adrian Belic Adrian Belic directed the Academy Award nominated film "Genghis Blues". His latest film, "Beyond the Call", follows the exploits of Knrightsbridge International, a unique humanitarian aid organization, whose motto is "High Adventure and Service to Humanity". They're not in the God business, they don't want to change anyone's politics, they pay their own way and they're tenacious about getting food, medicine and shelter directly to those in need.....not letting money or goods get lost in corrupt systems. Ed Artis, Jim Laws and Walt Ratterman aren't young bucks with Hollywood physiques and surfboards waiting for them at home, they're in their 50's, out of shape and when they hit roadblocks, and there are many, when trying to give to those in need, they get irritable, flustered and even more determined to make sure their help get to those in need. Before viewing the film, I thought a chronicle of these guys and their organization would be interesting, but I never thought I would practically be standing on my seat and applauding, almost to tears and thinking of what I could do locally to help people in San Francisco in need. This film inspires like no other. If it doesn't receive an Oscar nod, I'll give up drinking. For a month. Ok, three weeks. Seriously, see this film. Adrian Belic in person has an infectious energy. He's passionate about what he does and will stop at nothing to get his art and message to the public. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stand tall on a mountain, with only a loin cloth, in the middle of winter, bellowing a medieval call for all to take notice and act. Enjoy the show.
