David Eugene Edwards David Eugene has a calming presence. He's a man at peace with himself and I felt at peace talking to him. Rare for me since I get a lot of exercise from panic attacks. David is a devoted Christian and if you're familiar with 16 Horsepower and Woven Hand it's easy to tell. Lyrically he evokes lots of Christian imagery including the redemptive capacity of Jesus. Personally, I have my issues with Christianity. After talking with David and listening to his beliefs, I wanted to join the church of Woven Hand. He's humble, non-judgmental and accepting. Not often traits easily found in Christians.....but I find Christian philosophy and Christian religion opposite entities most of the time. First and foremost, David Eugene is an artist and musician. He is a native of Denver, Colorado and one of my top ten favorite singers. I'd rather meet him than Bono or Bruce Springsteen or Lou Reed. Needless to say, I was nervous, but what else is new? It was really hard not to say, "Remember when 16 Horsepower opened for Nick Cave? Yeah, that was cool. Remember when you played with Slim Cessna's Auto Club? Yeah, that was cool." (Actually, I did say that, but through the magic of editing you won't be tortured with the segments of the interview where I hump his leg.) Enjoy the show. These segments are stripped from the original live broadcast: If you can't stream the above segments, right mouse click on the links, save them to your hard drive and then play them from there.
