photos courtesy of kathy of | In Memory of Dirk Dirksen Dirk Dirksen died in his sleep on November 20, 2006. He came on my radio show with The Symptoms and The Contractions earlier this year. He was the go-to guy for punk rock in the 70's and 80's as the owner of Mabuhay Gardens. On December 2nd, you are invited to pay your respects to Dirksen on Pirate Cat Radio. IF YOU CALL 415-626-6180 B/T 6 - 8PM ON SATURDAY you can talk about Dirk live on the air. If you call this number before 4pm on Saturday we'll try to get your message out during the broadcast: 1. call (415) 824-4621 2. keep your message to under two minutes 3. say your name, where you're from, if you played Mabuhay or worked with Dirk or if you were a fan of his. 4. talk about a memory including Dirk or if you don't have one specifically you can just give regards to his family and/or a RIP statement and/or a thank you for all his hard work, i loved you but i hated your damn dog, etc. NOTE: if have a few stories and would like to call a few times and relate one story on each message, that would be ok. the main reason for the time limit is b/c i don't want the voice mail to cut you off. Memories and messages will be played on Drinks with Tony on 87.9 fm, Pirate Cat Radio on December 2nd, 6pm - 8pm. If all the messages won't fit into the two hour show, I'll find a way to archive the extra ones here.
