Johnny Hickman I think the year was 91 or 92, Primus had just opened for Rush, so they had a new following and filled the Berkeley Greek Theatre to capacity....quite shocking since a few years earlier you could see them with 15 people @ The Berkeley Square. I didn't want to go, but my friend Sam Maldonado bought my ticket and made me go, especially since Cracker was opening and we were both huge fans of Camper Van Beethoven. Right away the crowd was agro on Cracker.....Nirvana had just shown a world of idiots who thought Def Leppard and Poison were the shit one year earlier, Nirvana taught them how to slam dance, so the crowd wanted a reason to rip their flannel shirts off and mosh. Cracker didn't cave in. They mocked the crowd and played a 45 minute version of their slowest song, Eurotrash Girl. After that, i knew, Cracker would become better than Camper Van Beethoven. Johnny Hickman is the co-founder and guitarist of Cracker. He and David Lowry were long time friends and finally formed the band together around 91/92.
