Lydia Millet is the author of Omnivores (Algonquin, 1996), George Bush, Dark Prince of Love (Scribner, 2000), My Happy Life (Henry Holt, 2002), a winner of the 2003 PEN-USA Award for Fiction, and Everyone’s Pretty (Soft Skull Press, February 2005).

Her latest book, Oh Pure and Radiant Heart, takes three scientists instrumental to the invention of the atom bomb: Oppenheimer, Szilard and Fermi, from 1945 and time travels them to present day New Mexico.  After some orientation over realizing they've been catapulted into the future, they start a quest to gain knowledge of how they changed history and they try to educate present day leaders.  In a wacky twist, they become messianic religious figureheads to fanatics who start following them.
