Tinkture I contacted Tinkture because I found out they were playing 924 Gilman and I added them to a column I write for the SF Chronicle called Essentials, which lists the Essential bands to see over the weekend and the newspaper likes to include an mp3 of the bands I recommend. After listening to their myspace page I emailed and asked them for a song. FFWD a few months, and I found out this all girl band I was really into were all in high school. I was floored. I was sure they were in their 30's and had been playing together for 10+ years and just periodically gigged around San Francisco. So, I drove by their high school in my beat up van with a bag of candy to hand out to anyone who could give me information that could lead to interviewing the girls from Tinkture for the San Francisco Chronicle, wink wink, but really for my radio show. After being interrogated by campus police, people can be so assumptive, I mean, just because I sprained my ankle and had a limp, and my ears were ringing from seeing Black Ice the night before, so it turned out I was being 'loud' when handing out candy to teens and asking "Where's Maggie, I'm a friend of her mother's."..... After they searched my van and confiscated my cage of gerbils in the back that I was raising to start my gerbil breeding business, hey being a writer isn't as monetarily satisfactory as you'd think and we sometimes need second incomes, Roisin approached me and agreed to an interview if I'd stop embarrassing them at their high school. Seriously, these girls rock, they're so damn talented. See them before they headline Lollapalooza. I wasn't kidding about the Chronicle article. Portions of these segments are from the live broadcast and others are from the original interview recordings for its badder ass quality: I was kidding about the gerbils. If you can't stream the above segments, right mouse click on the links, save them to your hard drive and then play them from there.
